The castle is currently being fitted with fire prevention systems so will be closed for most of 2017. However the castle grounds remain open and are magnificent, with extensive gardens and lots of paths to explore, some leading through pretty woods. An exciting new adventure playground will be opening soon.
Next year, if you are interested in historic buildings, you will love this one. It is so well preserved, with authentic furnishings and knowledgeable guides keen to share fascinating stories of the life and times of previous occupants.

Belvedere was built in 1920 by a retiring sea captain, who brought back South American mahogany as ship’s ballast, from which the doors and skirtings are made.
Visitors have been coming to Belvedere ever since, some returning over many years.
